Bloom Calendar & Flora Discovery

Every productive apiary has a nectar calendar — a map of what blooms when, and how much it contributes. Building this knowledge used to take years of manual observation. SunnyBee builds it for you, automatically.

Flora Discovery: Identify Any Flower

Point your phone camera at any plant during your apiary walk. SunnyBee's Flora Discovery identifies the species, shows its nectar value, pollen rating, and typical bloom months in your region — within seconds. No botany degree required.

Build Your Nectar Calendar

Add the flowering plants within 3–10km of your apiary — acacia, linden, clover, phacelia, lavender, sunflower, or anything you find locally. SunnyBee builds a visual timeline showing when each source starts, peaks, and ends — so you can plan supers, splits, and migrations around the actual flows.

Bee Activity: Real Foraging Potential

Not all sunny days are equal for bees. Bee Activity combines live weather data with the solar cycle and your local flora calendar to show ideal flight hours, foraging potential, and nectar collection effectiveness for each day at your specific apiary location.

Flora Location Mapping

Log where you found a specific plant and its approximate area. Over time, SunnyBee builds a resource map of every nectar source within foraging range — showing you which directions offer the most potential and where to move hives for specific flows.

Flora & Bloom Calendar Questions

How accurate is SunnyBee's Flora Discovery identification?

Flora Discovery uses a trained plant identification model optimised for common European apiary plants and nectar sources. Accuracy is highest for common flowering plants. For rare or regional species, the app shows the top 3 most likely matches with confidence scores.

Can I add plants that are not in the database?

Yes. You can add any custom plant to your apiary's flora list, with your own notes on nectar value, bloom months, and quantity. Your local knowledge always takes priority.

What does 'Bee Activity' actually calculate?

Bee Activity combines the current weather (temperature, wind, cloud cover, rainfall) with sunrise/sunset times and the nectar availability window of your local flora. It outputs an hourly score (0–100%) indicating how productive foraging is likely to be that day.

Is the bloom calendar personalised to my location?

Yes. Bloom timing varies significantly by latitude, altitude, and local microclimate. SunnyBee uses your apiary's GPS coordinates to adjust expected bloom windows for your specific region.
